Travelers depend on visual content to understand properties and make confident booking decisions. Rich media, such as video, is increasingly influential across advertising, e-commerce, and social media, and is shaping traveler preferences. However, our platform currently offers limited video upload capabilities for partners to showcase their properties.
Partners need an efficient way to upload and manage property videos to better inform and inspire travelers, while providing compelling content that sets EG apart from competitors.
Currently, video capabilities aren’t available at all on Partner Central, and on Vrbo, partners have to manage their videos off-platform, which creates some unnecessary friction. Interestingly, none of our competitors support video either, so offering this feature could really set EG apart.
We tackled this project in two stages. First releasing the EPC experience followed by the Vrbo experience. Due to the delay in displaying videos to travelers, we needed to consider the clearest way to inform partners that they will not be able to see their videos displayed live for an indefinite amount of time. This was a clear friction point and resulted in our use of Beta badging.

We have been adding approximately 1,000 approved property videos each week since launch. Our goal is to acquire 25,000 new property videos. To date, we have received 7,057 approved videos, achieving 28% of our target.
To make videos accessible in a way that serves travelers and partners, we pushed to receive automated caption generation for videos to ensure consistency and reliability. This aligns with industry standards and minimizes partner burden and moderation risks.
To improve visibility of our new feature, we have introduced badging, an affixed message card, and refined messaging to provide greater clarity for partners. Additionally, we have enhanced native functionality to include notifications and the ability to share videos from mobile devices, ensuring consistency with existing app patterns.
This project was full of valuable learnings as we collaborated with multiple teams to deepen our understanding of data retrieval and supported the travel team in preparing for video testing. It also provided a rare opportunity to work closely with the native engineering team, ensuring our video functionality met both iOS and Android standards. It’s been exciting to see videos now appearing on listings, and I look forward to this feature becoming widely adopted by our partners.
